Project Summary

This is my project to design and build a Intel 286 computer. This project started back in late 2022 with a ceramic 80286 CPU that I was able to freerun on a breadboard.

I had to designed a breakout PCB for the 286 CPU and CPLD that I use as chipset/glue logic for my first breadboard version then a moved to produce my first motherboard PCB prototype.

Project’s Goal and features

The goal of this project is to learn how to design a AT compatible 286 system and learn x86 assembly.

  • PS/2 Keyboard port
  • IDE support
  • USB flash drive support
